hmm. this is an interesting topic. maybe it needs it's own thread but it fits in well here.steevio wrote: you have to train yourself to have less sleep. most of us sleep too much anyway.
at my last job I pretty much gave up on sleep as a rejuvinating activity. probably 3 or 4 hours average but very often not sleeping at all or just entering a very temporary shutdown.
I did this for about 9 months. I'm still alive, but I pushed it too hard and it was really getting on top of me. I was basically a zombie at work (but somehow managed to get promoted.. probably says more about the company than me though), and was in very bad shape... horribly stressed and slowly getting more detached from reality.
Anyway, now I've chilled out a lot more and have a new job who are totally flexible, but actually now I have more sleep I actually feel like I have less energy.
So, I guess there's some middle ground of cutting down on sleep, but still staying healthy.
The ex English prime minister Maggie Thatcher famously survived on 3 hours sleep a night (not that she's a role model or anything though ).

jeez i'm only talking about losing an hour and half sleep cycle. 6 hours is hardly sleep deprivation. i actually feel much more energetic and refreshed when i have a shortish deep sleep.aallvor wrote:This is very bad advice. Take it from someone who hasn't slept nearly enough since March 14th 2007
sorry to hear about your problem, how did it start ?
