about the concept of "minimal": i guess what i'm saying is because these stripped down tracks are so amenable to layering/blending, we should be taking advantage of these qualities. that is, we can/(should?) be exploring what they sound like layered and blended for minutes on end, cause it sounds good. in doing so though, i have a tendency to fall into a trap of "overmixing," where the transition is oversaturated, and when i mix out to a track like the mp003 let's say, it sounds weaker and its good qualities get muted.element.8 wrote:is everyone completely forgetting what the whole concept of "minimal" was created for? i'm kind of perplexed here...
i know this is a problem with my djing and not mp003, so i'm curious to know how people bring out those good qualities of the track. one way in my opinion is to let tracks play out in a set, but that can also sound somewhat predictable at a certain point.
