Does eveyone in here just use presets and pre-fab sample-banks?

Ableton Monkeys.

i'm also interested in knowing more about layering, as usually i feel my drum synth sounds as really dry or cold =/.

It's pretty simple. place two drums at the same time. Ne one ever try messing with all those little knobs and buttons on your drum synth or sampler? It does wonders.

I don't see why everyone asks how do you make this and how do you make that?

If you learn how all your instruments work most of your questions will be answered.

i dont understand this topic at all.

next time you sit down infront of your music pc dont sit down with ambition of banging out a tune, but sit down to fck around with stuff. take out the parts you like and use them later when you will be making a tune.

Alles auf einen mal geht nich mein freund. (sorry couldn't be arsed to translate that into english)

  • Use 1 sound twice, offset it and pan to create a stereo image of the sample.
Are you not running into serious phase issues with this?

Probably because recommending something "for minimal" requires knowing what minimal is. We have several threads full of varying level of vagaries and out-and-out stupidity that show this is likely impossible.

Otherwise, I don't see how making good music, or elements thereof, has anything to do with genres.

Please remember that innovative music exists for awhile before it gets a categorical name. And from there, it typically begins huffing big dong.
