Sorry if anybody misunderstood my joke about the MachineDrum.
I like it. It makes great laser sounds, and I love me some laser guns up in the track!
I mostly like the Korg for its synth and ease-of-use. The drums are trendy and will sound wack in a few years. The tubes just pump it up a little bit, not really enough to matter.
I do think it would be a good intro to hardware, though, which is why I recommended it.
Roland MC-808 or MC-909?

it doesnt mention the 909 / 808 kick sound thing, but when my mate bought the kit, the guy who designed it, told him that there wasnt actually that much difference in the circuitry between the various TR kick sounds, and it was one of his design parameters to make the 606 kick better.
