Hi there,

Some great samples!

Just to clarify, is this a competition to remix the opening track or to produce a new piece of music from your samples? Also, does it have to be in the minimal style?

Think i'll give it a shot either way!

Thanks, Ol.

Hi, Ol.
Thanks.

When the press release was sent out in time to meet the deadline requirements of mags such as Computer Music and Remix, the competition
was to remix the lead track from the album (thus that's what was printed
in those and other places). In the time that passed, however (and before the mags printed the press release, but too late to change the press release they had initially received), I thought:
"why limit samples made available to just that one track? why not lots of samples from lots of tracks on the album?" so I made 385 samples from the album available and the competition is now to make a new piece of music from my samples.

Stratagem Musik tends to release mostly minimal techy material, so you'd be good to check out what they have released so far to see what kind of "vibe" they dig.

Take care.

Consumer vs. User remix competition update

Post by Andrew Duke »

Just a reminder to the producers on the list (and anyone who would like to help spread the word):

The deadline for entries in the Andrew Duke--Consumer vs. User remix contest is August 31, 2006--just one month from today.

In case you missed the info first time 'round:
remix material from Andrew Duke's Consumer vs. User album (just
released on California's Phthalo http://www.phthalo.com/cat.php?cat=phth40 and featuring a remix of Phonopsia and two collaborations with Massaccessi) for a chance to be released on Stratagem Musik (http://stratagem-musik.com) and win cool prizes including a grand prize of a copy of Native Instruments Reaktor, plus software from FXpansion and Audiomulch, magazine subscriptions, CD-ROMs, books, CDs, and more;
http://andrew-duke.com/contests.html has the details. And even if you're not interested in participating in the remix contest, there are 385 royalty-free samples available for you to play with.

Again, contest deadline is August 31, 2006. And there's another remix contest (different source material and prizes) starting up August 15.

Thanks.

Andrew,

I think it is a brilliant idea to pit the users and consumers against each other in a no-holds-barred free-for-all. My question is, is nudity to be allowed in this competition? And if not full nudity, exactly what parameters; i.e., topless, bikini, vinyl, etc.? Pls let me know so I can dress appropriately.

Thx for the samples!
