@ Shepherd_of_Anu: You raise some very valid points. It would indeed be very interesting to see a comparison of media and medium consumption. Ie music vs TV vs Internet vs radio vs any other entertainment media really. It could show some unexpected trend i suppose. I wonder for example how much more people consume tv today vs 20 years ago... Same goes for music.

a good example, the way that tv ratings are measured. when tivo was introduced it was not included for many years in tv networks viewership ratings, which caused many shows to be cancelled from percieved lack of viewership. when in fact the shows were extremely popular, but the tivo technology was not anticipated. how do we rate viewership now that we have hulu/slashcontrol/4G mobile networks broadcasting television shows, what do we consider tv anymore?
