i don't think you can generalize the reason of people taking drugs. there is no unique general reason.

in order to fill the missing holes in their everyday life

well that's a narrow and strange way to see things

insufficiency on certain levels. artificially attempt to enter different frames of mind. out of curiosity. out of the need of exploring something they can't normally obtain. and so on...

if i would to ask you, why people drink..what would your answer be? just to get drunk or because they miss out on something in their life? could you make a proper answer to it without generalising?
