wow really liked that shackleton youtube. makes me wish there was a dubstep scene in Tokyo

Shackleton really seems to be getting close to that line between dubstep and minimal... another guy i've heard who is playing a similar sound is Parson who's from Texas. his "Agreement rmx" in particular is great and you can hear it on his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/mentalnote

i heard that that particular track was partially inspired by techno

almost on cue, sleeparchive releases a dubstep EP. and the Villalobos remix ain't too far away either...

maybe as the traditional techno sound makes a comeback some of the minimal scene will splinter off in the opposite direction. i could really see a techno/dubstep sound being played alongside some really minimal techno (JPLS, Brinkmann, Mika Vainio/Pansonic, Hawtin's "Concept" series)

yeah i heard this on juno yesterday, big base.....im not massively into it, but i appreciate the experimentation

i guess this is the next phase of minimal expansion..not bad. it could give birth to great music.
