after being in a 3.5 yr relationship with someone that i didn't have anything in common with except for a roof, a dog, and musical interests (but not lifestyle...), i can say that music isn't the only common ground that is needed, but it is one of them, and it ranks pretty high on the list. no more settling, though...

Drop the idea of becoming someone else, because you are already a masterpiece.

not that important imo. the most important thing when it comes to the different taste of music in a relationship, is that you respect your partners choice/taste.

it's just to respect and accept that people are different. and i think that if you got lots of other stuff in common + have a great relationship otherwise, the different taste of music shouldn't matter at all.

but that's just my two cents..

at least it works perfectly for me, got the best gf i could ever imagine, not a techno-lover, but still, she listens to it sometimes, but the most important of all, she accepts and respects that i like something different. and i on my side, do the same with her taste of music.

I think it matters to a certain extent. The lady i am dating enjoys not just this genre of music, but all kinds of music be it jazz, rock, indie.etc..

The coolest part was when she went on summer holiday and made it a point to go to hardwax and bring me back loads of goodies.. CDs, shirts and other things. She also went to post 26 and hung out a bit.

the common music passion is the most important thing in a couple, IMO
my whole life revolves around music, most of my time is full with music and parties...i could never have a boyfriend that has nothing to do with music or even has too different taste in electronic music (trance or breaks or dnb)
