yea, but did he really make that much? I would expect a song like "Not Exactly" to be a million dollar deal (and maybe it is in terms of the amount of high paying gigs he has gotten though don't know if it all adds up to as high as a million but definitely pretty high)... so what he made of the track sales is really just chump change to buy some music equipment and treat a girl to a date;), or am I wrong considering these where some of his biggest tracks of the year?

But you do know that we live in 2008 and not 1992 right?
The times has changed SO much, there's not the same amount of money involved more.
But earning 40-60.000$ on a few tracks wouldn't be bad :)

Yes the times have changed... I think it's for the better, there is a lot more pirated tracks out there (on the surface not good) and yes they should pay but if they don't chances are they are supporting the artists in different ways like going to their gigs is my point.

I think people should buy tracks. I just spent the last ten minutes intensely debating that in my head, lol.

He'll be far to busy wacking off to his illegally downloaded porn to do that.

File sharing is like pandora's box, it's open now, there's no chance of closing it. Best bet is to find a solution that embraces it, rather than demonises it, because it isn't going to go away any time soon.

Of course it can't be stopped, I'm very aware of that :)
I just don't buy the 'the more the music is spread illegal, the bigger the chance for gigs for the artist' statement...

I just thought of the future....

In tune advertising for everthing digital and give them away.

If you have a few thousand people listening to your music then advertisers will be insterested.

I can hear it now... as the tune drop's a deep voice say's ''Brought to you by McDonalds''

We make money... people listening get free music... McDonalds sell more burgers...everybody wins.

Press vinyl with no advertising for people to play out.

Then vinyl will come back and we will all make more money.

Job done.
