could someone please shead some light on the differences between those two plugin formats? i notice that every instalation offers those two options, but i never really knew what's the main difference. ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

DirectX is not, in fact, just an audio plugin format, it is a way for Windows programmers to access all the audio-visual functions that the Win platform offers. So, the point is, building DirectX plugins to process audio is just one little facet of DirectX. I've never programmed directx but I hear from programmers that it's annoying to work with, being that it's by Microsoft and all.
