Anthony Collins (Dirt Crew rec, Criminal, Players Paradise, FRA)
Young DJ/producer Anthony Collins has proved to be the rising star on the French minimal electro-house scene. In the last year, he has accumulated signings to cutting-edge labels such as Infant/2020 Vision (Leeds), Players Paradise / Dirt Crew Rec. (Berlin), Robotronic (Paris), D.Strom Rec. (Germany) and Criminal Rec. (Berlin), and has been given a residency at Paris most notorious afterhours French Kiss and Kit Kat at the Red Light.
Born to an American father and to a French mother, he grew up both in New York and in the South of France. His first taste for music was given to him by his father who shared his passion for jazz with him and had his own recording studio in Los Angeles. It was in France that he later discovered electronic music and fell in love with it. He acquired his first pair of decks at the age of 17 and did his first gig the following year. He played in most of the major clubs on the French Riviera Villa Rouge in Montpellier and Minimal in Cannes. To push his career a step further, Anthony left his home ground and moved to Paris. Due to hard work and by forcing his way into the shows that matter, he quickly established himself on the scene and was booked regularly to play at the citys most prestigious clubs Rex Club, Batofar, Red Light, Scene Bastille and Club 287 and also lately abroad in famous clubs Pacha in Ibiza, Macarena in Barcelona and Bar Morphine in Hamburg.
Anthony describes his style as a mix of minimal house, electro house and deep tech. Hes not the type who puts one hit record after another but always blends meticulously chosen tracks with a real artistic reason to it. His sets also benefit a lot from his technical ability by using Final Scratch, Traktor 3 and an external controller. His production work also contributed to put his name in the spotlight. He produces with fellow French DJ/producer Ludovic Vendi as part of the Vibe Dealers. Their latest production, Vibe Di Laine released on Criminal, has been played out by the likes of Tiga, Tiefschwarz, John Dalback, Digitalism, Abe Duque, Phonique, Chloe. The track also features on the French magazine Traxs cover mount CD this mag is the French bible for the best new music around. He also produces alone and has just released two EPs, one on D.Strom Rec. and one on Infant Records (Infant 006 Understand / Amanda / Not), one of the UKs top record labels for underground electronic house music (Paul Woolford, Julian Sanza, Burnski) run by Simon Baker and 2020 Vision. The track Amanda features on Minsirty of Sound Viva album mixed by Steve Lawler.
Anthony Collins production skills have reached another level and the quality of his tracks is permanently increasing. Europes finest record labels have picked up on it and have been showing a lot of interest he has upcoming releases alone on Darkroom Dubs, Somas sister label. By signing to Mainstage Artists, his DJ diary is set to become even more consistent with more bookings abroad. The next step for Anthony will be to set up his own label very soon the ultimate way for him to share his personal view on quality music.
