Well where do I start.. When I entered the poema the argonauts just finished their set and Dan Bell was playing some very housy tunes. They all got their own special dan bell flow as we know of him. The crowd didn't really pick it up and everyone was just talking which was a pity.
After Dan Bell it was Barem's turn. Barem just started his European tour and I was very curious about his liveset because I really like his productions but never got to hear him before. And man did het put a nice act together. I promised here that I would dance my ass off and I did! Too bad the sound at the poema wasn't very good and allot of noises didn't really get to the crowd. Sometimes you had to concentrate a bit to hear the tracks as they are meant to be. But that is more an issue of the Poema. I noticed that Barem mixes his tracks way more up with each other then other live acts do. Most of the time I have the feeling that live act are just playing their tracks and aren't doing anything fun or different with them then the original recordings. When you do a live act you have more control and you should be able to do more stuff dan a regular dj. Thumbs up for Barem.. Too bad not everyone at the poema shared that opinion with me and the dancefloor still wasn't going very strong.
That changed when zip started playing. People where more active but the place was less crowded. Zip is not really my thing, strange because everyone liked his set very well. I missed the structure his set was going from house to techno to whatever... The guy has a positive vibe though.
All in all I had a great night.. Magnetronik is rocking the scene in Utrecht. Keep up the good work!
