1 April is voor vele mensen een grap, voor ons wederom de eerste Zaterdag van de maand en dus tevens de datum voor een nieuwe editie van Music People.. Het Rotterdamse kwalitatief hoogstaande muziek avondje voor de liefhebber van vette minimal, tech house en deep detroit techno al zeggen we het zelf . Naast de residents Joachim, Jay Samuel en Hilbert in Hifi heeft Music People in korte tijd al een mooi arsenaal aan internationale en nationale gast deejays in de tunnel aan de weena mogen ontvangen, waaronder Biological live, Rotterdamse trots Michel de Hey., maar ook Troy Pierce, Matt John en Heartthrob, en gelukkig kunnen we alvast melden dat het in de komende maanden alleen maar leuker gaat worden.
Dus om voorlopig nog maar even niet in herhaling te gaan vallen hebben we wederom een aantal speciale gasten weten te strikken.. En dan hebben we het over de Canadese Fransoos en 1 van de drijvende krachten achter de Franse Minimal scene, Cabanne aka Jean-Guillomme Cabanne, beter bekend van labels als Perlon, Telegraph en Logistic of van zijn projecten met collega’s Ark en Jamie Lidell als Copacabannark of als Ultrakurt samen met David Gluck. Ook is hij de man achter compilatie’s als Post office en co produceerde hij samen met John Thomas het “Blackstage” Album op “Logistic”. Door deze projecten en zijn achtergrond als Jazzgitarist in de funkband Flag word Cabanne gezien als 1 van de meest Forward thinking Producer binnen de minimal scene, Ook niet te missen is zijn samenwerking met Franse Collega producer Krikor op het Franse label “Karat” en zijn eigen nieuwe label genaamd “Minibar” met o.a. releases van Cabanne zelf maar ook Agnes die je op dit moment in de meeste platenzaken kunt bestellen.. Kortom voor de liefhebber een deejay die niet is te missen tijdens zijn bezoek aan onze Havenstad...
Maar er is meer, zo hebben we ook voor de eerste maal in Rotterdam het genoegen om een live optreden te horen van de upcoming local hero : Ion Ludwig live.
zijn stijl is zoals hij zelf zegt het beste te omschrijven als 'deep minimalistic techno with cutting edge sounds and rhythms.' geinspireerd door grootheden als Ricardo villalobos en Richie Hawtin. Iets wat niet onopgemerkt is gebleven en bewezen tijdens optredens op avonden als Voltt, Static en binnekort ook het Rockit open air festival. Zijn tracks kun je onder andere terug vinden op de cd push the buttons en binnekort zelf een release op het Engelse Under_line label waar o.a. Konrad black, Magda en Troy Pierce aka Louderbach onder getekend zijn. Kortom iemand van wie we nog heel veel zullen horen in de nabije toekomst...

Jean-Guillaume Cabanne is Telegraph's kingpin artist, with six EP releases, as well as six of his tracks, in solo or with David Gluck as Ultrakurt, featuring on the Post Office compilations. On Logistic, he has co-produced the Blackstage album with John Thomas. His releases on Telegraph, 7th City, Karat or Perlon (with Ark as Copacabannark) have made him one of the most forward-thinking artists of the scene. He was part of the first live presentation of the Narod Niki project at Montreal's MUTEK last installment, along with Dandy Jack, Dimbiman, Luciano, Daniel Bell, Richie Hawtin, Akufen and Ricardo Villalobos. Cabanne is also a trained jazz guitarist.
Jean-Guillaume Cabanne is a precursor of the French minimal techno scene. Aged of 30 years old, this confirmed jazzman has already collaborated with a large range of labels and artists. After 5 years spent as a guitar player within the funk band Flag and few experiences among the electronic scene, his meeting with John Thomas will confirm his will to go further in this way and will initiate a long and fructuous collaboration between the two musicians.
Logistic, John's label, will be the first structure to receive the productions of this prolix artist : he signs his two first EPs in 1997 (Log 03 & 04). In 2000, he helps to set up the sub-label Telegraph, exclusively dedicated to the minimal techno sound he likes, and takes the lead of its artistic direction. In addition of his own productions, Cabanne will also be the instigator of the "Post Office" compilation series. Since that time, he had also come out a large bunch of EPs on many labels, Karat in 2002 (Karat 08), Perlon with Ark (under the name Copacabannark), 7th City - the label set up by the two pioneers of the American minimal techno Dan Bell and Claude Young - or Force Inc for a remix of Akufen.
Appart from the solo production, he also works on many group projects, which could be long-lasting - the co-production of the "Blackstage" album with John Thomas, the Copacabannark and Ultrakurt (Cabanne + David Gluck) duets - or more short-lived, for example when he takes part to the "Narod Niki" project during the MUTEK festival of Montreal in 2003 for a several hours live with 8 of the best representants of the minimal movement. Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Dimbiman, Akufen or Ritchie Hawtin were acting live with him... With such experiences, no wonder then if people scrutinize to his next releases ! Among others, a new EP co-produced with Krikor will come out on Karat late 2004...
ION LUDWIG _ LIVE

It is the summer of 2003 when Koos Ludwig starts producing electronical music. Prior to that, he has been in involved in music by studying guitar and percussion. This gave him eventually the inspiration to do more with his musical creativity.
The love for techno had been a passion for some time as well. It were big names like Carl Cox, Sven Vath, and Underworld who gave Ludwig his first impressions of technology music.
Throughout the process of producing, his love for techno remained strong but nevertheless his productions slowly changed to more deep and progressive sounds. His love for techno and complex rhythms, deep and dark melodies and progressive build-ups developed a style that best can be described as 'deep minimalistic techno with cutting edge sounds and rhythms.' For the past two years Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin have been a great inspiration for their excellent productions and stunning gigs.
After two years of spending time in his studio Koos Ludwig starts to develop his liveset. By the end of August 2005 his first performances are a fact. From that moment on Ion Ludwig has become more and more known to the minimal scene...
