Sub/Bass Synthesis
Sub/Bass Synthesis
Hello.
Just curious on the synthesis behind this sub/bass sound:
Any ideas on how it was made? Sounds to me like each bass note modulates it self maybe? giving it that rumbling sound on each note. Not sure if its just is a lot of LFO/FM synthesis(?) but I'm really interested on how its made. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!!

I would love to know this as well....
Re: Sub/Bass Synthesis
Probably a lot simpler than you think. Could be a lot of different techniques could be applied to create something similar. I also doubt that it was much of a struggle to arrive at this bassline... Kind of like turning on the machine and step sequencer and going.
To me Really sounds like a super low bass one being retriggered with the LFO or envelopes triggered at the same timelike you said. Try it! Would be a fun place to start for a new track.

any other ideas? sure the sound can just come straight from the machine. I'm curious on what the synthesis process is for achieving this sound
thanks!
thanks!

everything is speculation. why ask? ... lol...
just meaning everyone can give you bit of information...
just seems like a indirect way of asking someone for their approach..

Re: Sub/Bass Synthesis
Just sounds like a regular bass sound being sequenced to me. I think there's some legato/slides on a few notes which can be achieved by making the patch monophonic and setting to the synth to legato mode, then any overlapping notes slide from one to the other instead of the whole envelope being retriggered.
I think what you're hearing is confusing you, there's some textural stuff going on underneath it which you might be identifying as part of the bass when it isn't.
This sort of sound can be made with regular subtractive synth oscillators, pulse or saw waves or a combination of the 2. A lp24 filter, bring the filter right down so it gets rid of upper harmonics and leaves you with just a sub sound and then work backwards adding some bite back in by opening the filter with the 'env amount' knob or equivalent. A bit of drive/saturation may help too.
This is what I'm hearing anyway.

It says "-Ask Away" under the PRODUCERS section doesn't it? whats wrong with having different opinions and having a discussion? isn't this a forum??John Clees wrote:everything is speculation. why ask? ... lol...
we are not children here man! if I wanted to ask someone specific about something, I just do it! This might be the way you do things, and therefore you assume other people are like this? Very helpful and insightful coming from a moderator! You're so negative sometimes dude, it make me feel this forum could be much better without you. Damn!John Clees wrote:just seems like a indirect way of asking someone for their approach..
Anyways... thank you to the people who actually tried to answer the question.
