So, I was wandering if anyone has had any experience of running ableton using a touch screen? What I am tryig to do is find a faster alternative to write in drum beats etc in the step sequencer window. I am trying to get it so I can start off with an empty project, and drag/drop synths in quick enough, and notes into the step sequencer quick enough, to try write music from scratch in real time (given that I know my file structure well for individual drum hit samples etc).
Anyone had any experience with this? I have seen a few videos on youtube which don't look promising. In these vids the people were using fingers though, was wandering if a stylus would improve the accuracy of the screen?
Thank you

Its probably as clunky as you think it will be.
Maybe the ipad is the way to go? i have never used one, but there is plenty of software for controlling live and some seem very tightly integrated.
as touch screens go, i dont think u will get much better.

Lemur for the iPad was pretty much made for interacting with ableton. There are a lot of cool features for it and is probably worth checking out.
If you're looking for something more hands on check out Numerology + Novation Launchpad. Totally changed the way I used to write music. Mac only though.

I remember it being one of his posts on here that first turned me on to Numerology.
but for what you're trying to do I think most of the iPad apps that allow you to manipulate and view what is on your monitor have far too much latency to be useful for what you're trying to accomplish. Have you though about looking into TouchOSC, Liine, or maybe TouchAble? I'd have to imagine within one of those apps there'd have to be a template/layout with what you're going for, and if there's not you can build your own within TouchOsc
