The understated but highly intoxicating Fear Of Flying unleashes another killer house release, this time from Cally & Andi. "Smelt" is a long, drawn out affair, percussion heavy and with subtle atmospheric pads to begin with. Its long, uncomplicated arrangement make it ideal for creating mood and tension and I can see this bridging that hard-to-pin-down gap between the warm up and the main session. "Druma" sets the swing setting to 11 and adds some twangy stabs and some syncopated clicks and snaps in an almost micro-house fashion. A growling sub bass is introduced later in the track while the arrangement and instrumentation just bobs along steadily. Its repetitive, grooving style would find favour in the next-day ethos of Berlin’s morning sessions or Ibiza's lunchtime minimal wig-outs. After the subtle, stripped back nature of the first two tracks, title track "Etajul 13" comes as a bit of a surprise at the end of the EP. Rattling percussion and suspended, driving pads and atmospheres make this a mainroom tech-house banger for laser-guided dancefloors. There's no let up through the entire track and should see sweaty bodies gyrating all over the shop. A wonderful EP; no airs and graces - sophisticated, understated and sassy.
