I own some AKGs for home listening / mixing for some years now and I can only recommend this brand in terms of sound quality. Very precise and warm.

Mine look pretty similar to these:

but I think my exact model is not produced anymore.

EDIT: These seem even better and are still in your price range:

forgot to say that they are really comfortable to wear ;)

how you all can really suggest DJ Headphones for homelistening and producing music is beyond me.

Every headphone producer has one tiny little section for DJ headphones and a gigantic section for quality music listening headphones

think about it.

DJ headphones are ultra durable and ultra loud !
only cause they are not really bad in reproducing sound and you actually can get a decent sound out of it, doesnt make them good quality headphones for homelistening.

so investing 100 euro into DJ headphones and not use them for DJing is a bit retarded in my opinion.
Dude, my understading is that the HD25's are monitoring headphones, for studio situations, not just exclusively for DJ'ing. I think they're an excellent suggestion. Never had any problems with comfort either I have to say.

i dont produce so i cant say much about that, but my understanding is that you dont want coloured headphones when producing and the HD25 are extremly bass heavy, one time i bought vinyls after listening to samples with the HD25, i was dissapointed in the bassline when i played the vinyl after.

i found a thread concerning headphones for production
http://www.mnml.nl/phpBB2/viewtopic.php ... es&start=0

and comfort wise there are just a million better headphones out there..

The HD25-s are far from linear so not good for producing anything.
check http://www.head-fi.org/ and http://www.headphone.com/
I'm concidering getting these Beyerdynamic dt 880 but would also need a decent headphone amp to drive them. Not much to listen without an amp anyway :s
