Alessio Mereu had quite a year in 2010 - launching AMAM Records with its eight 12"s, an album and a digital sub-label with five additional EPs - not to mention his string of releases for other labels like Parquet, A. Music, and Form Music. This year shows no sign of the Sardinian DJ/producer slowing down as he prepares for his debut solo album, and in the meantime, this new EP of three originals.

Acted kicks off with "1Y3M", in which Alessio practices tech-house alchemy, combining a throbbing bassline, syncopated percussion, a demon-possessed vocal loop and a swarm of robotic bees. The sum of its parts offers a gravitational pull, perfect for darker dancefloor moments.

Showing his diversity, Alessio switches gears into brighter directions for the EP's title track. "Acted" is a mellow house confection with pastel melodies that seep through the tribal percussion like sun through the clouds. Finally, "Lobotomized" shows Mereu entering slinky, psychedelic realms with weird acid sequences and distant sirens and haunting voices that hover between your ears, showing his ability to move not just bodies on the dancefloor but to provoke a mental reaction in the listener. Stay turned for further beat exploration with Alessio Mereu's debut full-length solo album coming this summer.
