there is NO rules but yeah, I would not only depend on libararies for productions. Though it's good to have a few basics like 808, 707, Linndrum etc. Google them and you'll find free downloads immediately.
Everything else is inside Live. It's a huge ocean of sound possibilities. It's what you make from it. Even a shitty hihat from some live library can be good with a few tricks.
Studying music technology is one good thing. "Playing" with your toys/tools is another, and probably your best teacher.
