Don't think I can afford new ones though.
yeah me neither... right now i have a pair of used ones which i bought 2 years ago.. i paid 500€ for the whole pair.. they work very well but they are around 8 years old.. i'd love to have a new ones but the cheapest offer i could find is 1000€ for both turntables which feels expensive to me cause i actually have a perfectly working pair...
sell the pair you have now for 5-600 euro, then buy the new pair for 1000 :)
you're a genious, i'm adding my pair on ebay right now :D

it`s a little bit risky tho, what if it takes a week to sell them on ebay and next week the new ones become even more expensive..

actually i'm gonna buy the new pair now and sell the old pair in the meanwhile..

it's 100% sure that i'll find a buyer for my old mk5's ..

seriously you saved the day here :D

what's wrong with the ones you have?

i bet studiospares rerelease the SL-1210 in a couple of years. they did it with the yamaha NS10's.

I think not a lot, because Technics stop the production due partly to providers who can't actually continue to provide SL 1200 parts :/

yes i know.. but who knows which parts these are.. i think the most common replacement parts will stay available.. like pitches, faders, tone arms, etc..

at least i hope so :/
