Possibilities other than midi retro fitting?

Post by AK »

Just read something on another forum which I wondered if it was correct. As an example, if i had a tr707 and a tr808, is it true I could give the 808 a clock from the 707 whilst the 707 is recieving it's own clock via midi?

The 707 has midi in/out, din in/out and a trigger out. The 808 has din in/out, if the 707 & 808 were connected via Rolands din sync and then the 707 was being clocked externally via midi, would the whole set up work?

try to search for the 707 manual. all those roland manuls are in pdf form somewhere on the internet.

and do general search (try typing 'forum' along with your search in google). might get some answers.

It's not possible.
707/727 don't forward midi sync to din sync.

Would have been very neat, though!

You can buy a cheap din sync to midi converter.

make sure you dont buy a Phillip Rees MDS !!

i made the mistake, they are rubbish.
i'd be wary of anything that hasnt been recommended by someone who has experience of it. i've had a few different boxes that didnt keep time very well.

this sh!t is the real deal;

not cheap, but read the blurb, it makes you not want to buy anything else. they got me.

or theres Kenton, absolutely reliable;
