ItchyClips.com - building blocks for musicians

Post by ItchyClips »

INTRODUCING:

ItchyClips.com GbR

Stewart Walker and I (Sneak-Thief) started a project called ItchyClips.com where artists can buy & sell songs as Ableton Live files for 5 EURO each. Later we'll expand to other formats such as Kontakt, REX & Apple Loops.

Artists will get ~60% of each sale.

- Background:

We want to create a community of artists for artists - you know, like session musicians who offer their services to other producers and performers. This means released and unreleased songs, even those not-quite-finished tracks we all have lying around ;)

We welcome all styles of music, acoustic or electronic!

- What's a Scratchpack?

It's a song broken down into pieces, eg.:

Cheers,

Michel Morin (Sneak-Thief)

PS. Everybody is welcome to sell their tracks at ItchyClips. Create your account here

We have 3 different categories of Scratchpacks:

RockIt
Image

Scene-based playback - dancefloor-ready scratchpacks - press play on the scene and the audience goes crazy:

WorkIt
Image

A collection of samples most often taken from pre-existing tracks or themed compositions. All the clips from the original file are there. Something for the fans, or would-be remixers:

Toolkit

An open-ended Scratchpack for stimulating creativity which can include either multi-samples or Ableton synth
instruments, or Effect-chains. Created by teachers or sample-heads who want to inspire.

This definitely sounds interesting. Got tons of unfinished tracks!

But I'm uncertain whether it will be succesful....

Hey Koppnicker - why not? :)

I suggest downloading some of our free Scratchpacks to get a feel for how they're laid out:

Speaking as a producer & performer since the 90's, I found it to be a good exercise in sample organization - one that can only lead to better practices for production and performance.

The thing about ItchyClips is that it's a brand new market - people have released songs and there have been countless sample packs, but we're the first to let all artists release the pieces of their music.

Not to mention, record labels and artists have seen record sale profits declining, with MP3-sales failing to replace that income. Selling Scratchpacks offers a new income stream with a higher profit margin... if you're wondering how successful it will be, ItchyClips is currently partnering with MP3 aggregators who represent 300 labels. That's just the beginning!

Cheers,
Michel
