White noise tricks :)

Post by aciduss »

Hey guys... can you throw some advice on what do do with white noise signals... besides sidechaining and filtering i'd like to know if there is any special stuff you like to do to create interesting sounds.

Cheers!

Stick a bit of it under a clap, use it with lfo modulation also.

It can be used as a carrier sound in a vocoder to remove all audible pitch from (for example) speech. Then automating vocoder's attack and release settings could be interesting (haven't tried it myself, maybe I should).

Noise in stereo is a nice trick to get a wide sound.

don't limit yourself to use computer white noise... sample some room noise or other types of noise and amplify it for different textures.

In your subtractive synth use whitenoise to add density and texture to the sound :)
