Nope Wireless is and always has been unreliable for direct control systems especially in RF noisy environments, so while it might work nicely in your bedroom studio I wouldn't trust it for live use.hydrogen wrote:Why is it unreliable or is this just a blanket statement from you?Cheaper wrote:no usb or ethernet= fail.
i don't really trust the whole wireless thing when it comes to control software

I don't understand the hype with the ipad and lemur as a midi controller?
The drawback on these devices as a controller is that there is no real physical response on what you are trying to control... You are just sliding your finger on a piece of glass compared to pushing a physical button or moving a pot or slider... To me this is the equivalent to when membrane pads replaced buttons such as the Moog Source...
Call me old but I'm not convinced that these devices make good controllers...

It's all about loving new technologies, practicality and definitely the possibilites of creating a total custom set up layout for any occasions and performances ... wirelessly ... with a very small piece of hardware. And there's the show-off performance to captivate the audience. It's all part of the show, if you like it. To produce in the studio I'd rather go with physical knobs and faders.I don't understand the hype with the ipad and lemur as a midi controller?

I have to say that I got an iPad one month ago, exclusively to use it as a multi touch screen controller. Bought the Touch Osc for $5 and configured to use with Max/Msp ... it works like a charm and I really like the feeling of controlling it on the touch screen surface. That was my 2 cents.
cheers
As I just stumbled on this while researching liveset setups it seems the Ipad is quite a strong candidate to supplant the Lemur. I'm definitely gonna grab one very soon.
Can you imagine it with the ability to launch clips and trigger effects !!
