Looking for artists in the vein of Alan Abrahams

Post by Dragonsand »

Hi there!

I rarely ask for that kind of stuff, but in this case, I really need help. :)

Actually, I am a lover of "ethnic", "mythologic", "primitive" ambiances in my everyday life.

That's why I'm in love with the works of Portable. He's one of my biggest influences, and, in my opinion, an artists with a really UNIQUE touch. (and that perhaps explains why I can't find some similar artists)

Everytime I hear one of his track (and particulary his early years), I'm stuck in a loopy temporal distortion, where Egyptian gods and nanotechnology meet each other and create a futuristic symphony.

That's what I want.

Examples?

http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF228750-02-01-02.mp3 Okay, perhaps my favourite track from him. Loopy, hypnotic, technologic and mystical at the same time. I want more music like this.

http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF225832-01-01-02.mp3 Again, this big impression of abandoned bunkers in a desert jungle. J.J. Abrahams should use Portable for Lost 2. Ahah

http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF126699-01-04-02.mp3 More minimalist, but the loops is catching me.

So, that's what I'm into at the moment. Not housey congos, but a real artistic approach to "technology meets ancient civilisations", with raw, repetitive and mesmerizing loops.

Thanks in advance for your sharings. :)

Hey!

Thanks Kiani.

Hieroglyphic Being, I already know his EP "Liquid Sex" (with a remix of Portable included). I love it, and tried some other works from him, but it sounded a bit too "chaotic" in general. I'm going to give it another try.

About Soulphiction, I don't know him, and wil begin with his EPs on Perlon. :)
