Processing 808 like this...

Post by dohnhammar »

Hi there,

Does anyone know how this guy processed his 808-drums?

(it's the George Jupiter rmx..sorry, couldn't find a better clip)
http://www.junodownload.com/products/1445526-02.htm

would really love to know how to get such textures!

Thanks!

Sounds like a saturator/overdrive driven pretty hard and then compressed. Not terribly sure, you can also add a bitcrusher to get that topend sound.

yes, we can all agree that they are 808-sounds, but they are processed, and in a way I have heard in other tracks aswell..and it is the processing I would like to know about, not the samples 8)

Try out these samples:

https://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php? ... aFEwTVE9PQ

It includes 170 samples taken from our newest sample pack:

http://www.wavealchemy.co.uk/drum_machines_02/pid64

It includes some really nice 808 samples which have been processed through kit such as the Empirical Labs Fatso, Distressor, Culture Vulture, Cranesong HEDD, API EQs etc etc

sounds like parallel compression to me.

Make a send on your 808 and put a compressor on the send with settings you may destruct your kick by taste... add the send a bit to your dry signal and you mostly get this kinda sound.
