++ Kate Simko ++
Chicago-based Kate Simko is a classical pianist turned left field house and techno producer. Releasing music on labels such as Spectral Sound, Kupei Musika and Traum, Kate draws from a wide range of influences, combining her sense of melody and structure with her background in Chicago house and Detroit techno. Whether playing live or DJ’ing, Kate’s musical selection maintains a warm, soulful character, full of funky bass lines and loose rhythms.

Growing up studying piano and music theory, Kate discovered underground dance music during her teens and began DJ’ing on college radio in the late 90's. At this time, Kate made a switch from a degree in classical piano to electronic music composition. In 2001, Kate moved to Santiago, Chile, where she continued her studies in music composition and met Andres Bucci. Bucci and Simko combined forces and have since recorded two full-length records together as Detalles (Traum , Kupei Musika).

A versatile DJ, Kate was named one of the Top 10 DJ's in Chicago by XLR8R magazine. Her music has received positive remarks in zines such as The Wire, XLR8R, de:Bug, Mixmag, URB, BPM and Remix and her Detalles project was named one of the 'Next 100' artists by URB magazine. Kate has performed at festivals such as Mutek (Montreal and Chile), the Detroit Electronic Music Festival and Worldtronics (Berlin), and has played beside a myriad of genre defining artists throughout the United States, Europe and South America.

Back in her hometown of Chicago, Kate is honing her talents, producing and performing full time. Kate is continually evolving as an artist, combining her wide range of influences into her own music, creating a unique personal sound that crosses genre borders, blending rich textures, melodies and intricate programming with funky bass and groove.

++ Luke Solomon ++
Luke Solomon is undeniably one of British house music's unsung heroes, with an impressive track record of underground success. Don't believe us? Then read on!

No-one could debate Luke Solomon's dance music credentials. From setting up the seminal label Classic Recordings with Derrick Carter to taking quirky house to theUK Top 10 and international charts, with his band Freaks, Luke has been there for many of the more interesting 4/4 moments of the last decade.

After kicking off his DJ career at Middlesex University in the early 90's, it wasn't long before Luke was moving in the upper reaches of house music. A gig with Derrick Carter led the two to become friends, after which Classic Recordings was born. For 9 years, the label introduced the world to the likes of DJ Sneak, Tiefschwarz, Isolee and Freeform 5 and garnered a cult following until distribution difficulties led to the last single issuing forth in 2006.

Running alongside this was the birth and growth of Freaks, the production team Luke started with Justin Harris in 1996. Under the Freaks moniker, Luke & Justin have turned out a slew of singles and longplayers on their own Music For Freaks imprint to include the albums, The Beat Diaries, Meanwhile Back At The Disco and The Man Who Lived Underground. These albums spawned some of Freaks seminal singles such as Turning Orange, Where Were You When The Lights Went Out and of course their huge underground hit, The Creeps. They have also found themselves remixing the likes of Alison Limerick, Pulp, Damon Alban, Kasabian, The Streets & Duran Duran

However, besides having chart success throughout the world and running a successful label, Luke really feels like his own career is just beginning. As a solo artist he has had releases on a variety of labels to include the very respected Crosstown Rebels. His 1st artist album "The Difference Engine" was released in 2008 on the much applauded Rekids label. A sprawling trip of an album, the 13 tracks span all manners of genre and moods with the dancefloor energy offset by an experimental ambience not normally associated with house. While Solomon productions of old were filled with an off kilter sense of fun, there is a serious side to "The Difference Engine" that belies the cheerful confidance of the man behind it. The personal feel of the album is further fuelled by the lyrical content and one of the standout moments is "The Darkest Secret", a track featuring Earl Gateshead of Trojan Soundsystem and reminiscent of John Cooper Clark, the 70's punk poet. For Luke, Earl was an obvious choice to work with as he filled the role of the poet perfectly, so they ended up writing the song together in an ice cream shop in Chalk Farm!

The Difference Engine received high praise amongst the UK's music journalists and saw The Guardian featuring the album in it's revered review section.

"The Difference Engine finds Solomon indulging his passion for acid house, detroit techno and post-punk without ever being in thrall to them. It is a relaxed, loose limbed affair, inventive and astonishingly hooky, at times reminiscent of a less mannered, less middle-aged LCD Soundsystem." Alex Macpherson

This album led Luke to team up with Damian Lazarus on his own artist album and Luke co-wrote and co-produced a selection of tracks for the longplayer, working alongside the highly talented Arthur Jeffes, son of Simon Jeffes from the hugely influential, The Penguin Café Orchestra. The album entitled, "Smoke The Monster Out" has since been released worldwide via Get Physical Records, based in Berlin, and as Dazed and Confused noted "It is a truly inventive, deviant and uncompromising"piece of work.

But what does the future hold for Mr Solomon. Well besides travelling around the globe to DJ, writing a new album for Freaks and continuing to remix under Luke Solomon and Freaks guises, Luke is also close to completion of his 2nd artist album "Timelines". So whether it's a second coming or not, one things for sure, Luke's credentials within the electronic music scene are most certainly not to be argued with.

++ Phiorio ++
The year was 1998, when Italian born Gianpiero Fiorin bought his first set of decks and became Phiorio. His diverse musical preferences spanned everything from rock to electronica; this diverse background forming the foundation of his musical knowledge and understanding. Moving to London, he was inspired by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills who displayed the kind of technical prowess behind the decks that he had never witnessed in his home country of Italy and which provided the inspiration to develop his own skills as a disc jockey. The thriving London Free Party provided the perfect playing field to put these newly honed skills into practice. This exciting period brought about collaborations with various UK based sound systems which enabled Phiorio to get his first gigs at raves and clubs around the UK and Europe. So much has changed since the time of funky and Detroit influenced techno as Phiorio started exploring more dark and minimal sounds as well as jacking and techy house, all sounds that are currently the core of his dj sets. In order to have an output for the music he liked with the help of long time friends Carlo and Andrea, GP started Metroline recordings in 2005. Born as a free net label Metroline soon developed as a proper label releasing both on the digital and the 12 inch format. Metroline Limited nowadays is at the forefront of the electronic market with almost 20 releases under its belt including a bunch of tracks produced by Phiorio itself.
