Hi everyone,
Let me start by saying I am in no way affiliated with any music merchants.
Where do you buy your vinyl online? I'm looking for a well-stocked US store to minimize shipping costs. I'm especially interested in labels like Perlon, Underground Quality, Telik, Laid, Lomidhigh Organic, Pal SL Records...stuff like that.
Thanks!
Where do you buy your vinyl online (esp. US stores)?
It's nearly impossible to find any Trelik and Pal SL 12"s anywhere in the US brand new, in my experience.
That said, I would try Bent Crayon in Cleveland; they usually stock a healthy amount of new items (more on the minimal/tech/dubstep side of things) in addition to having a substantial back stock. He is constantly listing every day via his Discogs seller account:
http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?seller=bentcrayon
For house and disco I'd suggest Dope Jams in Brooklyn; their website is difficult to search at times, so I listed their Discogs account as well:
http://dopejams.net/store_index.html
http://www.discogs.com/seller/DopeJams580
In fact, buying off Discogs is likely your best bet....aside from the stores (Gramaphone in Chicago sells on there as well), many individuals in the US could have what you're looking for.
If you don't already have a Discogs wantlist set up, that's the easiest way.

discogs more or less your going to be shipping it from somewhere not in the U.S. I would say (only) use discogs if you can't find it else where. I paid 15 US for a record but paid another 15 for shipping on about 7 records I wanted for years. Needless to say I did get them via discogs.prussell wrote: buying off Discogs is likely your best bet....
I fantastic store to order form it :: http://www.forcedexposure.com
they have one flat rate shipping in the U.S. which will save you tons of money : order after order.
best wishes.
Thanks John, I'd forgotten about them.john clees wrote: I fantastic store to order form it :: http://www.forcedexposure.com

Halcyon in New York has an ok selection...not much on the newer side of things. I just ordered some records from them that Juno listed as out of stock.
Juno really isn't that bad...I just paid $12 for shipping for 3 records and they always arrive safely. Of course, it's been about 2 weeks since I ordered and I still don't have anything, but they're usually quicker.

As y'all might have seen, Resident Advisor posted a weirdly germane article about Discogs today:
http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1166
In the comments, people include links to several other purveyors of vinyl, including this one:
http://www.tnjbl.com/
Their site's domain registrant in in California.

Yeah, I often order from Juno. I've never ordered from Halcyon, though; thanks for the tip.infernal.techno wrote:Juno really isn't that bad....
Back to Discogs: it's a great resource, but the shipping & handling costs can be as expensive as the records themselves. To wit, this outfit is selling Melchior Production Ltd.'s Gentlemen Jack EP for €9, but it's €14.30 to ship in Europe! I haven't asked how much it'd be to ship to Texas.
