i probably need to upgrade some programs anyway, im still on 8.0.5 live
I read so much bad about the 8.1.1 release, so I would stay on 8.0.5 if I were you until a new release is out...
As far as I remember Ableton don't recommend 8.1.1 to be used at gigs..
having so many crashes lately with Ableton 8.0.6 that I just went back to logic for a while
I'm on 8.0.4, and experienced my first Ableton crash ever, 2 weeks ago.
Besides this one crash, it's been working rock solid!
Seriously? Last night mine kept crashing when I tried to change the octave on a synth - weird, but then the CPU was totally maxed.
Yes, I'm serious. That crash was my first ever in Ableton.

depends also on what you do with the software, if you just use it to play clips with a couple of effects you will never have crashes...

This is true. I had some serious side chain gating going on and a load of sends with major effects chains etc. Maybe I should think about simplifying things a bit...

I ran 8.0.5 under Snow Leopard just fine. Just FYI. Possibly even 8.0.4

well, im not gigging with it yet but i also dont want it crashing everytime im using it. breaks up the flow. maschine used to crash on me everyday when i first got it until NI updated, it now it works great. so does my ableton, neither of them crash hardly at all anymore. only very very rarely. i dunno, with my new desktop on the way i'll prob try out the updates and if they crash a lot i'll just install an older more stable version.

dont know about ableton or anything, but logic 8 is absolute sh!t on snow leopard. it crashes when i use audio units, it crashes when i use stock plugins. it crashes whenever.:x and when i open a song then close it without making changes, it asks me to save.

oh come on... whats this supposed to mean? are you trying to call somebody out?

or are you just saying that if you don't actually use the software to do complex stuff it wont crash?

sigh, got my new imac, but my edirol fa-66 audio interface isnt being recognized by it. bad enough i had to buy a new firewire cable since the new imacs have that new firewire, 800 i think it is. ive googled and found a few ppl with similar cases but their solutions to the problem dont seem to be my solution.
