Kicks don't matter, stop obsessing, its just a rhythmic pulse

nobody cares

work on some decent melodies/harmonies/timbres instead

This. Sounds quite a bit like the preset 999 kick tweaked a bit.

Anybody else with a tetra experience similarities?

EDIT: i updated the OS and you can adjust the panning of each oscilator.... i did this and was able to get it close... but its still annoying that its not flat on both sides. I'm used to digital precision with vst... so i'm not sure if this is "normal" or not in external gear. it certainly isn't on my Korg MX1.
no its not normal with external gear mate.
hardware is just as precise.

id have to disagree here, if the kick drum is weak and doesnt cut through the track at the right frequencies it may well sound wank on a big system when played in a club. suppose it goes down to personal preference though.

i agree, if its the pulse, then a weak kick, is a weak pulse and a weak heart of the track.

+1 don't obsess about finding a "specific" kick. waste of time because you'll never be happy with it.

+1

yes. but your track doesn't have to be based around the kick. You can adapt a kick in there with a good kick synth, sample stacks... whatever the hell method you use.

I understand you but the focus on engineering over musicality is a big part of why there's so much bland, meaningless dance music

Not really music - more test material for club PAs
