Aurora Borealis

Post by good_god »

All this winter listening—ambient and the like—has me wishing I could take a trip north to see one of these atmospheric happenings.

Is there anyone here who has witnessed an aurora? Are they indeed as wonderful as they appear in photos?

I have never seen one sadly. Not very common here in Stockholm as it it further up north. But i know it was a big one a few years ago that accutally could be seen in the whole of europe..

Found a movie from a small one over Stockholm a few months ago:

if you go to finland, what are the chances of seeing it. i mean, I'm gonna go there probably this summer, so is it something that happens a lot, like a few times per month, or is it really rare? and more in summer than winter?or the opposite?

Basically, the further up north you get, the bigger the chances are. I spend most of the summers in the north of sweden and have never seen one, sadly.
