discogs submissions rant

Post by tone-def »

i wish labels (especially digital) would put there releases on discogs. it's not hard and it will help people find there music. if i find an artist i like and i want to see what they have released i go to discogs. but if nobody submits anything how am i going to know about those releases?

i'm coming across more and more digital labels that have maybe 10 releases but if you look them up on discogs their nowhere to be seen. as an artist i would think twice about releasing on a label which doesn't bother with discogs. the label is suppose to promote there releases and if they can't do simple and free things like discogs submissions how can i trust them to do anything else?

yeah i totally agree, but i also think it's a pain in the ass to put a release on discogs "correctly".

i thought beatport is like discogs for digital?

if i enter an artist all his releases should show up. maybe i would check whatpeopleplay.com also.

are there artists who releases there stuff else where?
people still using discogs?
where else do you buy old records and check on artists and there releases? maybe you know something i dont know

the problem with beatport is they remove labels who aren't selling enough. so if a label decides to call it a day and stop releasing music, the chances are the labels back catalogue will be deleted within a few years.
