Fulltime to Part time for the music!!

Post by Utopian82 »

Hey people
I’ve been hovering over this board for a while and enjoying the posts, good stuff!!

So I thought it’s about time for me to make a post. 8)

I’m looking to go from an adequately paid full time job to a part time job solely for the purpose of dedicating myself to making music/djing/promoting!!

Have any of you done this before and have any hints? E.g type of job that gives the freedom but also might stimulate the creativity and not leave you completely bankrupt  ??

Any advice is more than welcome!! Cheers.

Thanks, that's perfect!

It's pretty tough concentrating on producing after coming back from a job which requires staring at a computer all day! But we all have to push on for what we enjoy.

I can tell you about my life experience. I work at nights and my schedule is one week working and two free weeks. That's a big amount of free time to produce music. Then my life is like a rollercoaster because I dont make music during one week (fustrated) and then I try to do as much I can in my free weeks (anxious with music). I learned that is always better to have a balance and work less amount of total hours in total but continuity.

I work 5-6 times a week, sometimes even 7.
but i work evenings, so i have most of the day free and most people are at work, so theres no one to complain about noise and im not too tired to work on my music.
