ll Question about the positioning of Monitors ll

Post by lostinmusiq »

last week i bought the KRK RP5 Monitors 8) nothing to say about the monitors ;)

my problem is the positioning of the monitors - there are some advices at www.thomann.de/de/onlineexpert_35_4.html ...
for me the sound is great but is it really different if i sit the monitors higher up ??? the first reflection is the wall behind me ca. 100 cm - i have a small room

if i will keep my positioning (see below) What about these MoPads ??? Are they necessary and proper for my problem if i bend them with these pads ???
no matter how it depends entirely on the room size is this right ???

as I read in a book - (don't know about the height tho , think those are nearfields arent they?) but to get a perfect feel you need to set everything up 60 degrees to your ears and you will get the whole stereo field feeling..

I don't know if I'm right.. depends on your room too.. but for the beginnning I could imagine it's hard to hear a difference anyway -difference of wrong setup or right setup-...

just a few really basic tips:

- Place your monitors on stable stands. Having them on your desk really compromises the sound.
- Have the tweeter at ears height.
- Make sure that the distance between the two monitors and your listening position is about the same (a perfect triangle).

with nearfields you want to create an equilateral triangle at head-height. your head is at one corner of the triangle.

Best to plot the 60/60/60 horizontal plain to scale on some graph paper or use Autocad....

I have used a bevel and pencil marks to make sure my monitors stay in the perfect eq. triangle.

And yes tweeters at head height.

Ever thought about some wall brackets maybe?

yeah my dad uses wall brackets. he got cheap ones that are for tvs and hes always withering on about that being much better than having them on stands or a table.

point them to your ears cause the sound needs to go that way
