dude, you are the one that determines which channels correspond to the zed by plugging in the cables manually!! the mixer has no mind of its ownLluck wrote:hydrogen wrote:Well yes... its about time he read the manuals. its all there. haha...jessejames wrote:Jeff, just quit while you're ahead.
Who's Jeff?
I've read and reread all the manuals this week end.....still don't understand how the channel numbers in MOTU correspond to the channels in the ZED.
Motus use main outs 1&2 and then have the additional analog outs labeled as 1-8 (on my ultralite)
even though the analog outs on the motu start at number 1, ableton will read this starting at output 3 because of the main outs on the MOTU accounting for channels 1&2
so analog output #1 will be output #3 in ableton!!!

I have a better grasp on this than the OP
but I have a little confusion too.
Say you've got 6 tracks in Live, you're sending out to the ZED14 cuz you want to mix them there. Do then just send a sum of all 6 via USB to computer as a stereo mix back into Live? or do you as (I believe) is suggested above, route the individual tracks back to motu's multiple ins. If you do the latter, don't you have to set up yet an additional 6 tracks in Live. Why does this seem too redundant to me...

this is not complicated
connect cables from motu outputs to input channels on zed
then send full stereo mix back into a single stereo input on the motu either using the main or record output of the zed (only the main out is balanced)
seriously guys, dont overthink this. the whole thing should take less than 5 minutes to set up.

reading the manual might also help, really contains some quality golden tips (read everything for a change helps you master it better). like above said, just route it well and youll be up and running.
-edit- saw you have a 828mk2, i do too. have a look at the intern configuration and change it either through the device or driver software.
