[UK] Fri 4th Dec: dumb¦found:08 presents Dinky (LDN)

Post by dumbfoundsound »

After the success of October's party with Hobo [CA / Minus], we are proud to have one of techno’s leading female producers playing for us - the Chilean-born Dinky aka Alejandra Iglesias. With releases that stretch over a decade, on labels like Wagon Repair, Vakant, Crosstown Rebels and Traum Schallplatten, Dinky is definitely an early Christmas presents for us. She has just released her new album ‘Anemik’ on Wagon Repair which gained high praises from ResidentAdvisor with 4.5 out of 5 stars. She will join us as part of her album tour across Europe and we couldn’t be more excited.

Supporting Dinky are talented producers/djs that have been busy releasing tracks and djing London and Europe's underground scene for years - Diamonds & Pearls artists and Crosstown Rebels former label manager Matthew Styles and Metroline Limited head-honcho Phiorio, and with dumb¦founds' residents Jan & Kudaku who will round off this amazing line-up with a b2b set to warm up the cold London winter! As always, we have a found a great intimate space bang in the middle of East London - The CAMP basement is a perfectly formed, raw basement, which has seen off the hook parties from the likes of Sud Electronic and Bad Passion, making it one of the most talked about new party spaces in London.

Line-up
Dinky (CL / Wagon Repair, Vakant, Crosstown Rebels)
Matthew Styles (dnp-music, Crosstown Rebels, Horizontal)
Phiorio (Metroline Limited)
Jan & Kudaku (dumb¦found¦sound)

Date: Friday 4th December 2009
Time: 10pm - 6am
Venue: the CAMP basement
Damage: £8 adv/presale / £10 on the door before midnight - £12 thereafter

£8 advance tickets via wegottickets

Artists:

++ Dinky ++
The most recent phase of Dinky's production finds her experimenting more than ever. With the launch of her own Horizontal label in 2005, she began moving in the direction of jittery, cut-up house; the label now has 10 releases and counting, featuring not only Dinky's own productions but also records from Matthew Styles, Jambi, Andres Bucci and more. In 2008, Dinky released her third album, May Be Later, and an EP for Berlin's Vakant label, exploring ever more intricate polyrhythms and uncanny timbres. In 2009, fellow expat-in-Berlin Mathew Jonson invited her to join his Wagon Repair label, resulting in the four-track Lydian EP and the full-length Anemik. Having proven time and again that she can pump out tracks for the most demanding dance floors, here she lets her imagination and her fingertips guide her to a more secluded place, using exclusively hardware synths, sequencers and drum machines, and even Fender Telecaster and Rhodes keyboard, as her raw materials. The results range widely in style and mood, but they all come together, crystallizing (and this music is nothing if not crystalline) into a single idea or a single image: something like a sun-dappled clearing in the woods, far from any "proper" nightlife, marked by close friends, good sound and no intrusions from the outside world, where the music is free to roam.

+ Matthew Styles++
As well as being a stupendous DJ and club promoter Matthew is also a former label Manager for Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels record label. Matthew has been instrumental in bringing through some of the labels highlights, such as Andre Kraml, Jamie Jones, Hiem and Pier Bucci. With a stoic history of production behind him, highlights of Matthew production career include superb remixes for the likes of Music for Freaks, City Rockers, Disco 45 & Catskills and original productions have featured on labels such as Bpitch, Aesoteric and Doc Martins’ FreeStyle imprint. Most recently Matthew left London for the heady heights of Berlin, where upon he has established the Berlin branch of Crosstown Rebels. His production has stepped up a gear with the autumn 2007 release of the club smash “Lady Judy” alongside Jamie Jones and Fuckpony on Bpitch Control. He is also releasing a debut sold single on Dinky’s ground breaking Horizontal imprint and his second single cult Diamonds and Pearls Label. He is also currently remixing Zander VT with Jamie Jones for Bpitch.

++ Phiorio ++
The year was 1998, when Italian born Gianpiero Fiorin bought his first set of decks and became Phiorio. His diverse musical preferences spanned everything from rock to electronica; this diverse background forming the foundation of his musical knowledge and understanding. Moving to London, he was inspired by the likes of Richie Hawtin and Jeff Mills who displayed the kind of technical prowess behind the decks that he had never witnessed in his home country of Italy and which provided the inspiration to develop his own skills as a disc jockey. The thriving London Free Party provided the perfect playing field to put these newly honed skills into practice. This exciting period brought about collaborations with various UK based sound systems which enabled Phiorio to get his first gigs at raves and clubs around the UK and Europe. So much has changed since the time of funky and Detroit influenced techno as Phiorio started exploring more dark and minimal sounds as well as jacking and techy house, all sounds that are currently the core of his dj sets. In order to have an output for the music he liked with the help of long time friends Carlo and Andrea, GP started Metroline recordings in 2005. Born as a free net label Metroline soon developed as a proper label releasing both on the digital and the 12 inch format. Metroline Limited nowadays is at the forefront of the electronic market with almost 20 releases under its belt including a bunch of tracks produced by Phiorio itself.
