good ideas :) even better...upgrade! Live 8 is great, support the companies who actually make cool stuff and listen to users.

+1 on the main concept ( +0.4 on 'listen to users')

in order to upgrade.. its good to use the demo first and see if its for you.

So if I understand right i'm not to put any effects on anything, just mastering tools(compression, eq, limiters), or can I put reverb on the clap let's say?

definitely put fx on!

I would not recommend to do stuff that really distorts the original sound (like a remix) but instead just things that enhances it or places it the way you like. delay, reverb, flange etc. all that stuff should be fair game.

btw a little tip for Ableton reverb (compliments of Robert Henke):
the reverb sums the inputs to mono (even though it has a stereo out). However you can make an awesome reverb out if it using the following trick:
make an fx rack with two reverbs in parallel. Before each reverb insert a Utility plugin and pan on L and the other R. After the fx rack put an EQ8 in M/S mode. Adjust the M to remove bass and then tweak the S mode with some high freq spikes and dips.
This will make the ableton reverb far more 3d and lush.
