really?

i think most minimal today is a joke. how could anyone say the italian or minus sound is serious music? or the "i want to sound like luciano" sound? then you got the people who make music with a sense of humour like akufen, mossa, crackhaus, pantytec, paradroid, fym, s-max and many more. i love this kind of stuff
I'm referring to the crowd under 30 where I live.
Their idea of minimal is big reverb and buildups. To me, that stuff sounds closer to trance.

love some italo disco.. i-f mixed up in the hague 1 & 2 are good starting points, cannot see how you can discuss late disco/early house without looking into it!

a friend of mine has a label (Radius) that re-issues forgotten Italo gems. I was totally not into the stuff until he sat me down and played some great productions. That's really amazing about that disco and italo disco: the sound quality is often so huge and when you hear it through some really great monitors you can hardly believe the layers and subtle sounds that are in that music.

Too bad that the italo releases are costing a fortune to buy nowadays, it's not uncommon to ask 150-200 euro for a record

In sweden you can find some pretty mainstream italo in thrift stores really cheap.

I agree there is some really amazing stuff to find if you look threw the catalogues.

I think maybe the music being released isn't so good but minimal djs are still better even if theres alot of this conga/ bongo stuff knocking about but in a years time we'll be saying hw stale that is...
