Ableton 7 Cello & Violin

Post by brambosjes »

Ok, let me start of with saying I did use the search button and did use Google, but couldnt really find something.

For a track, I would like to have a violin and cello in it. I dont know any people that play these instruments (then I could have recorded the sounds), so I thought I could do the trick digitally. Is there anywhere I can find a good sounding violin and good sounding cello on the internet for free, for Ableton 7? I would like to play it with my midi keyboard.

I found this http://rekkerd.org/biologic-releases-vi ... e-samples/ but that doesnt really seem to work?

At the moment have something called 'Violin attack', but no matter how lang I push a key, the note will only last 0,5 second. I would like the violin and cello to be played just like a synth.

Thanks in advance!

did you buy the boxed ableton? comes with eic. plenty of orchestra inside.
otherwise a decent midrange rompler will do you favors(sampletank2?);
i don't think you want to go vsl for just violin and cello.
but the fact is you need a decent multisample one,
those isntruments are all about expression.

thanks boudo and cytoplasm, for the feedback so far.

I did not buy the boxed ableton. Will now read further and see what I can do, any feedback is still welcome of course! :)

uvi, e-mu and yellowtools offer free romplers (uvi workstation, proteus vx and independance), i guess independence should be your run because of the 2 gigs of library, i'm sure you'd find something.

@mpc - i think the op wanted real instruments, which do sound more organic with multisamples or physmod than with va-imitation.

THis is the end all of strings horns and other symphony instruments.

Its a bit of a CPU hog but it is not very expensive. I bought it for 100 dollars and it is amazing. Everything in it sounds real and has great manipulation as well.
I have used this a million times for strings and pianos well worth the money. I have never found anything that can come close to this in realistic sound.
