For Smallroom Music 04, label head Monoloc has gathered three international underground heroes on his emerging imprint. The original version of “Plastik Face” is by the French producer Jan Hendez from Montpellier, the remixes are by Mike Wall from Berlin and Jon Seber from Italy. Regarding their sound and their credibility, all of the three up-and-coming artists have a lot in common. Each one of them delivers a slow burning, cutting-edge Minimal Techno and each one of them is as much of a hero in his local scene as an increasingly requested dj and producer.
Jan Hendez who already appeared on Smallroom Music with a brilliant remix of Monoloc´s “Black Pot” (Smallroom Music 03) has delivered two new tracks, which are perfectly in line with the label´s sonic philosophy. Both of them convince with big basses, imaginative sequences and percussions, mesmerizing spoken words and an atmospherically rich sound architecture.
The remixes by Jon Seber and Mike Wall offer two rhythmically and sonically different alternatives to the original of “Plastik Face”. Both tracks are seriously haunting versions, each one of them in its very personal way. The initiate of electronic music will be able to recognize their class, their pure, enthusiastic approach and their characteristic style.
Monoloc has invited three like-minded souls for this release and has one more time succeeded to come up with one of those truly special records. With Smallroom Music 04, the label makes a clear statement and continuatively defines its distinctive sound.
