Prominent Argentine producers Franco Cinelli & Funzion create an (E.)Bridge across La Pampa - linking Rosario and Mendoza - their respective hometowns, to come up with an overtly powerful release on Airdrop Records.
Who is familiar with Franco Cinelli’s sound knows there is nothing more infectious than his droning, walking, reduced grooves, or is raving lines, that always have an underlying drum theme going that grip you into hypnose and euphoria! Franco Cinelli has been active like no other over the last three years. Releasing landmark records on Esperanza and Traut Muzik in 2009; receiving remixes by the likes of Tobias Freund and Damian Schwartz; remixing on dozens of records himself and collaborating with his friends Mikael Stavöstrand or Kasper under the Las Vegas alias… The list is long...
Alejandro Mosso is the real name behind the various monikers Funzion, E.Bridge and Ampec. His relationship with creating music started playing guitar 11 years ago. This closely followed by his first steps into electronic music at the age of 17. Along his various releases on such foremost labels as LoMidHigh, Alphahouse, or Sushitech, Alejandro develops his own organic sound, combining idm prod techniques with techno and house rhythmics. In search of a cosmic equilibrium through heavy bass lines, and front-end laden frequencies, Funzion is also reverent to a certain heritage in classic voice treatment and patterns.
‘Singa‘ is the A-side. It shines at you with the sparkling innocence of a track that wants to be played. The propellant grooves pull you into the action, and before you know what’s going on, the pushing and dashing is taking over, there is no way this does not get you dancing. There are just too many rhythmical elements pulling the trigger, resistance is pointless as this feels too good! This is when the vocals catch you; the acoustics of the Chilean Araucano tribe chants haunt and trick the listener into ten deep minutes of concentration while the beat bumps on.
The sound of ‘Pure‘ is like tennis: tactical ticktickal. Very labourous and concentrated, this stomper does not fail to grip you with big tattooed arms and shake you uptight. An admittedly strange idea. The track is a bodily experience. With strong mid 90’s New York sonorities and groove, the female vocals filter in slowly and take the hairy edge, yet the completely mechanic tambourine marks the never ending circulations of slowly looped elements. It’s only towards the end things start to roll. And that’s what makes this track so tricky.
