in Toronto during the summer, there are parties during the day at a beach, and it's not that uncommon to see parents bring their kids down, at least for the day-time portion. Things are usually pretty chill during the day, then ramp into party-party mode as the sun sets.
Also at the Pikniks in Montreal (and for Mutek), you see allot of kids there. But, I gotta wonder - are the parents not concerned about their kids hearing? The first year I was there (Richie vs Ricardo), the volume was /insanely/ loud, I walked too near to a speaker w/o my earplugs in then ended up running away because it hurt and my ear felt funny for a bit after - and you'd see parents holding kids in their arms dancing near speaker stacks.
While kids at a party (esp day-time ones) is fine and kinda cool, put some consideration into protecting your kids hearing - their eardrums are pretty sensitive.
