live performance w/o turntables?

Post by nightley »

ez everyone, I was wondering what was the best combination (hardware & software) to dj, using a laptop and a controller (for FX, knobs etc) and if it was user-friendly (been djing on turntables for a few years now but I felt the need to experience smth new)

PS : dont get me wrong, i dont want to emulate turntables.
lets stay i dont wanna be using headphones anymore while I dj !

thanks in advance

why would you want to lose your only insight to the music that you are about to play?

thats not all that bad... it can be... but there are things you can do to avoid that... but even then. You are mixing in the dark... its much better with the cans.

Within Ableton Live you can set warpmarkers for visualisation, so you don't need your headphones anymore. I still recommend cueing though.. You'll never know if it's gonna sound right..

of course you don't need headphones... but if unless you've heard or know the set in and out ... you would be at a loss without them.

I hope i don't have to see another headphoneless dj.
