apart from the obvious IE fabric, are there many smaller venues in London with decent club nights running on weekly or monthly basis predominantly techno and minimal based?
Ive heard Plastic People is a good club - but never been so cant comment.

There is a night at Corsica Studios called Bleep 43 which has Convextion, Dj Stingray next week...

edit: Ive never been to Glasgow for clubbing either so could definitely do with checking out Sub Club and Arches...

I much prefer the small underground nights in a warehouse or maybe somewhere a little different than a club.

i've only been to manchester once for the warehouse project which was excellent.

The venue itself is quite similar to the arches in Glasgow though its a bit smaller.

Whats the scene like in Liverpool? I've not heard much out of there so it makes me wonder if there is much going on

Maybe itd be interesting if people described whats taking place in their local scene. Maybe include things like record stores, studios, mastering houses, vinyl pressing in your area.

I'll concentrate on where I live in South Wales. There is a small underground scene with a number of regular half decent club nights but there are only few producers that I know off and only 2 record shops.

Producers
Acid Casuals (Novamute / Sombom) (electronic collective started by Cian from Super Furry Animals) from Cardiff
Digital Motion (ADSR Music) from Cardiff
Wesley Matsell (Border Community) from Merthyr Tydfil
Hybrid from Swansea
Paul Lorraine (Foundation Records) from Cardiff
High Contrast (Hospital Records) from Cardiff
Sean McCabe (Mountain Records/Soulfuric/King Street) from Cardiff
ORCOP from Cardiff

Record Labels
ADSR Music
Sombom Records
Mountain Records

Club Nights (genre & example of guests)
Cool House - House and Techno (Jamie Jones, Argy, Tania Vulcano, Damian Lazarus, Sebo K)
Sombom - House & Techno (Craig Richards, Silicone Soul, Agoria)
Loco - Techno (Carl Craig, Radio Slave)
Holodeck - Straight Up Techno (Surgeon, Mark Broom, The Black Dog)
CYNT - student night that puts on a mixture of techno, breaks and electro (Zabiela, Plump DJs, Fake Blood)
Lamerica - US & Deep House (Joey Negro, Kenny Dope, Ame, Jimpster)

Clubs (capacity) (all in Cardiff)
Se7en (1000)
Contis (700)
Glam (700)
Glo Bar (300)
Clwb Ifor Bach (300)

Record Shops
Catapult - Cardiff
Vinylism - Swansea

Liverpool!

I saw Alex Smoke last Friday, and we've got a few names coming up like Anja Schneider, James Holden, Sebo K and Konrad Black. Check out the lineups in the near future:

http://www.outlar.com/

We don't have a big scene, but it's growing. For a while it was literally only the small club nights run by local lads, with resident Djs playing, but it's building up now, so we start to see more big names coming to the city.

(Slightly off topic, some mates of mine who own a soundsystem and have done a few squat parties round here are looking to run a monthly club night in some underground tunnels under the city centre:

It will be generally harder techno, but maybe some minimal for the first hour or two as a warm up, but I'm really looking foward to it! It'd be legal, so no worries with police, or trouble from d*ckheads trying to gatecrash the party, but the location would make it feel like a free party, so it would be more fun than a normal club. They are still in talks with the owners, but it looks promising...)
