[Contexterrior 26] Shonky - Coco Feel and Love Shonk

Post by Contexterrior »

out now in stores and at Beatport

A1. Coco Feel
B2. Donkey Kong
B3. Doctor Slump

Berlin-based Olivier Ducreux releases his first EP for Contexterrior, following
his highly regarded material for FreaK n’Chic, Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee
and Sub Static.

Shonky first made a name for himself as a DJ in Paris late last decade, and
made his production debut in 2005 for FreaK n’Chic, with a slew of
acclaimed releases, plus remix requests from the likes of Tiefschwarz and
Anja Schneider. Now, following the release of his debut full-length album
last year, Shonky joins Contexterrior for three fresh tech-house productions.
“Coco Feel” revolves around a naïve organ loop and strict grid-based
percussion, while free-spirited sine waves dance and flutter about and
gentle female vocals appear. DJs who secretly enjoy “Missing” by Everything
But the Girl might want to check this one out. On the flip, the mechanical
“Donkey Kong” will give you enough energy to climb ladders and brick walls
all day long, and the bouncy closing track “Doctor Slump” will diagnose you
with a severe case of Dance Mania.

wouldnt it make more sense to release this stuff on tuning?

i love this label because of the first releases from jay, the one from akiko and dygas....hopefully the label comes back to the sound that made it one of my favourite labels!

Is the name supposed to be a reference to Coco Steel & Lovebomb - early Warp Records producers that did the classic 'Feel It' track?

Yep yep.. you are right. Sounds more like the other label.
I have to say that Inxec's last release on Cont. was pretty good, Evula rocks.
