The Max thing is cool for live and If you like live and max thats great for you but doesn't mean your going to make better songs than someone using something else.

This whole idea that one program is better is about like saying a guitarist will write better music because of the brand name of their guitar.
it's very true. the important thing is to find which tools work for you.

sound engine of Cubase is pretty amazing tho'. But indeed, workflow...
Would be nice to have the tools of logic, the interface of Ableton and the sound engine of cubase all in one :)

to clarify:

my fascist post about cubase had a sarcast undertoone which
wasn't clear and meaningful. I'm be no means someone who
say's " this or that tool is better for everyone, and you have to
use brand x to make great stuff - history has proven that :-)"

so, i was in a "live8-release-info-flash" and was raving about the
new features which are so future. to all the people who were
moaning on me eligible - you're right. Tools come down to personal
reference and good music is good music, point.

cubase shits all over live in everyway apart from live set use...

sound quality, workflow...

i never understood how people can actually write music in the cramped environment that is live..

i run it re-wired through Logic Pro (and through Cubase prior to that) and do all of my loop/audio/timestretching through it...

however, for actually writing tunes, it sucks..

Its purpose is for the LIVE application... not as a DAW (imo) sure, i dont doubt you can use it to create music... but i just dont see it as that sort of application

I find the sound better out of Cubase then Ableton. I was listening to some of my old tracks the other day, which were made on Cubase and sound wise, they are miles ahead the ones I have made with Ableton. Ableton has this weird sound I cant describe, its almost grainy. However having clip mode means that I will no doubt continue to use Ableton for many years.

Thats exaclty what I love about it. It's purpose is for live music, which makes sequencing easy and fun.
