Nothing in electronic music made such an impression on my in a very long time.

Had the same feeling at my 1st dubstep allnighter in Antwerp, Deep Medi Night. Mala on the pa tuning up the soundsystem and from then on overwhelmed by every sound and also didn't see such a crowd reaction in a long time, same goes for DMZ or FWD>> in London.

These massive basses on that soundsystem - totally overwhelming! I thought I was breathing under water, every body hair sticking out in every possile direction, totally lost in the soundscapes!

All about the bass, skankin rhythms and soundscapes.

Doesn't Scuba live in Berlin these days? Gonna check out that album from him.

I find most dubstep too cheesy as well.
Last album that i heard that was really good was Scorn - Stealth.
I'd definitely recommend that one.

Scorn's definitely one of the world's unsung musical genuises. You should check his Quoit stuff too, similar ideas as Scorn put into drum and bass, really stripped down and cleverly arranged and the like.

saw him play earlier this year and he was amazing, sounds like music to kill someone too, super sinister stuff(that will probably put a lot of people off listening to it )

little bit of trivia for those who don't know, mick harris(scorn) was the drummer for napalm death

its sounds like bad drum and bass slowed down

drum and bass breaks were fast but the bass lines were usually half time

160 / 2 is about 80-90 bpm, so it sounded like a hip hop tempo

the half time basslines on this 120bpm dubstep stuff

puts its around 60-70bpm

thats a bit slow for my taste.

like a snooze fest...

maybe its fun to listen to on heroin or k, I dunno

I'm not into the drugs...



not trying to bash anyone, I used to listen to a ton of DnB for years

as such, I'm not hearing much innovation in Dubstep that wasnt already covered in DnB

I do like a Shackleton track I have on Perlon

I'll check out a few more of those mixes in this thread, to keep an open mind
