Its a skill you develop either by being forced (ex. playing a few gigs with bad monitoring) or by shutting down monitors every few moments to compare.

I once saw DJs/artists, leaving the stage during the performance, run to the dance floor and then go back to the booth (ex. Monolake). You wouldn't believe the difference in the sound, from before to after the check.

I'm not sure it is off topic but if you take care, you'll notice the close up pic is just over the place where should be the mixer's cables ;-)

They have walls of Marshall stacks on stage just to look ''rock and roll''. They might as well play with fucking dolls in stead of a dj mixer and a controller.
