thanks for everyone who've broken down the sound for me. some great techniques you guys have shared. going to try them all. :)

and no worries about the criticism, i'm not looking to make that exact exact sound, just wanted to learn about to how to go about it. and i thought i'd be more specific with what type of rising fx i was trying to achieve thus i posted 'total departure' in the subject to give everyone a better idea. 8)

you easily get some continuously rising effects using the corkscrew plugin included in the Anarchy Effects pack...

you can use a synth with a pitch envelope if you just want the pitch to increase/decrease over time.

Pitch bend..Pitch enveloppe. Or a slow LFO on the pitch.
